Charlie Austin - Youth Football at Poole Town
Former Poole Town Premiership Star Charlie Austin on Youth Football
Released by Reading as a 16 year old, Charlie played non–league football for Kintbury Rangers and Hungerford before joining us in 2008. In his prolific season and a half with us Charlie scored 64 goals in 57 games which caught the attention of Swindon Town to whom he moved in 2009. Several further moves saw Charlie rise to the Premiership with QPR and Southampton. Our youth teams are always looking to nurture the next Charlie Austin.
Charlie said ‘Clubs like Poole Town, with their brilliant youth system, provide a pathway for kids to progress to a high standard of football and maybe all the way to the top. This high standard of semi-professional football at which they play also gives a shop window for players like me who don’t necessarily make it the first-time round’.
